BIRTHDAY GIRL.

I'm not sure if I've said this before, but I absolutely love birthdays. I love my own birthday. I love other people's birthdays. And I especially love cake.

This cake was ridiculously tasty. I think it was Hazelnut Brown Butter.  But whatever it was, it sure didn't last long. My birthday was so wonderful, I spent time with all my favourite people and got some amazing presents, which I will share with you soon. For now I need to return to my cake-induced coma.

WHAT WE DO IN OUR HOME.

So I think I've found them. My favourite scrambled eggs. They're light, but at the same time creamy and billowy and magical. And they were right under my nose all this time. They're made in a little place called my kitchen, by a little person named me, with a lot of help from Julia.

There is not really a strict recipe, it's really all about three things:

1) A good pan; my favourite is from Tas Catering Supplies.
2) Fresh eggs; straight from the chicken, if you're into that. If you're not, market fresh will suffice.
3) Good butter; Ashgrove 'Traditional Farmhouse' Butter is heaven (We eat this stuff like cheese in our house).

I like mine with chives and a mixture of cream/milk. And a lot of butter; butter makes it better. Mix your ingredients, heat the butter and away you go. Just don't stir too much, three times at most, and take them off when they're slightly runnier than you like as they will harden a little more while you spread your toast. Practice also makes perfect, mine looked like crap the first time, but they got better, much better.

This was another especially nice Tassie morning. Perfect weather for these eggs, some freshly squeezed orange juice (The hard way; I really need a juicer), and a fresh copy of Vogue. Getting up early (early for me is 9am), really gets me in the mood to leave the study-dungeon that is my house and do things. Ursula and I had a lovely afternoon shopping. She also shares my love of butter, food in general and spontaneous afternoon ciders, you should visit her blog

 Jacket: Dangerfield
Top: Restyled by Ursula.
Sunglasses: Sportsgirl

In other news, a package arrived for me this morning that contained my birthday dress, which I'm so very excited to wear out on Saturday. A little sneak peek is below, as well as some shoes that I may have accidentally purchased to go with it, but more on those later.

SECOND DAY OF SPRING.

The first day of spring in Tassie was awful, but the second one was beautiful! I spent the day eating out, shopping and drinking cider. We just got our very first Wittner in Hobart, and my friend and I had to try so hard not to open our wallets.

My new haircut also feels very spring-like. It's so refreshing not to have a long tangly mane getting in my way.

Shirt: Vintage
Pants: Maxim
Blazer: Zara
Shoes: Camper 'Kim' Shoes in Red
Clutch: Vintage, from Thrush
Lips: Chanel 'Rouge Allure'

Thrush is one of my favourite Etsy stores. I'm currently coveting almost everything in the small folder, but mainly these oxfords. The eternal argument of 'to buy or not to buy' is currently wavering on the buy side, the main excuse being 'It's not like another pair of shoes would hurt... and it is almost my birthday!!.'

Little Pippi is also the perfect accessory to this outfit, unfortunately she was more interested in the birds than in posing.

GREEN EGGS AND HAM.

I've already spoken about my addiction to scrambled eggs and my mission to find the best in Hobart. This week my addiction took me to Machine Laundry Cafe to try their 'old new egg dish'. I was actually a little disappointed, this dish seemed to have it all; garlic sourdough, beetroot relish, fetta and rocket scrambled eggs. But something was just a little off, and the eggs were a little green-ish in colour. Perhaps my expectations were just a little too high.

But saying that, everything else I have ever eaten there has been ridiculously good. I counselled my friend into the french toast, which I've had numerous times before, and has never failed me.

In other news, I've been engaging in a little extra-university reading, which is so refreshing, since there are so many books that have been just begging me to devour them. These two were purchased today, somewhat hastily, as it is my birthday next week and I think I've been telling people that I wanted these...

I'm already tearing through 'Gaysia' by Benjamin Law, after owning it for a grand total of six hours. I was that girl giggling on the bus on the way home about fifty-year old men having threesomes in public by the pool of their all-nudist Balinese hotel. It's fantastic already, completely hilarious and so meticulously written. I leave you with Pippin & Max engaging in some synchronized snoozing.

LAST WINTER.

I move house too much. These pictures are from about three houses ago. They're also some of the last pictures of me with long hair, really long hair. About three weeks ago I went a little crazy. After a particularly bad morning of knots and birds nests and tears and actually physically snapping a comb off in my hair; I gave up. I decided it was all too much. I was going to chop it all off. And so I did. More pictures of that to come.

Shirt: Country Road
Cardigan: Damsel Vintage
Skirt: Damsel Vintage
Shoes: Wittner
Umbrella: Relaquaire, Latrobe

I owe most of my penchant for vintage clothes to Damsel Vintage. I can't really remember how I stumbled across the facebook page, but since then it has grown into a beautiful online shop, that you can find here. This skirt is one of my favourite purchases from Damsel Vintage.

The store owner Ruby, is also lovely and the gorgeous hand-written thankyou notes are the best. Alfie also appreciated the pretty wrapping. She is unforunately not with us anymore, but luckily we have thousands of photos to remember her by!
